A little something different for me. I usually will choose color images over black and white, but there are times when black and white just sings to me – I like to believe that my photography celebrates not only the people I’m photographing, but the context they have in the world around us. Color is authentic to me – real color – no artistic actions, presets, or heavy color treatments – just real. But, sometimes stripping away that color, opens a window of simplicity. As freeing as it is to rid ourselves of distractions in our everyday lives, black and white rids us of distraction and helps us see into the soul.
As beautiful as the fall colors were this day, Rachel’s images spoke to me most in black and white. Sometimes, letting go of all the color around us, let’s the true beauty shine.
